Sudanese flutist and composer Hafiz Abdel Rahman is a graduate of the Music Academy of Sudan in Khartoum. He established his musical group in Khartoum in 1991 and has been touring the world ever since. He has participated in many international festivals including Abu Dhabi Cultural Center, Paris Arab-French Institute, Vienna Solo Festival, Beirut Sudanese Community Festival, Geneva Hilton World Congress of Families, South African Johanesburge University and many, many others. , Sudan’s culture is very rich with influence from various cultures. Since 1950, many modern Western instruments have become popular for use in the music of Sudan including the lute, violin, accordion and flute. The Sudanese Music is characterized by its complete rhythm and soft melodies representing the Afro Arab sources. More than four hundred tribes inhabit Sudan. The different cultures, traditions, languages and arts have paved the way towards musical variations and improvisation. Many of these songs are of the religious nature. These religious chants or songs both Muslims and Christians perform throughout Sudan. Christians and Muslims are brothers and sisters. The constitution of Sudan protects the right to believe without discrimination.
